Mit dem Arbeitsbewältigungsindex (ABI) steht ein bewährtes Instrument zur Messung der individuellen Arbeitsbewältigungsfähigkeit zur Verfügung. In der Betriebsmedizin ist die Anwendung dieses Instrumentes zur individuellen Beratung der Beschäftigten seit über 15 Jahren Usus. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es zu ermitteln, inwieweit das in diesem Kontext erhobene Datenmaterial auch für ein betriebliches Gesundheitsmanagement (BGM) von Interesse und Nutzen sein kann. Zur Beantwortung der Fragestellung wurde eine systematische Literaturrecherche für den Zeitraum 1995 bis 2015 durchgeführt. Im Ergebnis lassen sich neun mögliche Anwendungsarten des ABI identifizieren und ableiten. Fünf davon zeigen als mögliche Funktionsinstrumente innerhalb eines BGM erhebliches Potenzial. Die Verwendung des ABI etwa als Kennzahl oder als Orientierungshilfe sich entwickelnder BGM-Strukturen wird modernen BGM-Definitionen gerecht, indem der ABI zu den Themen Arbeit, Alter und Gesundheit sensibilisiert, BGM-Prozesse unterstützt und die betriebliche Partizipation stärkt. Die Ausweitung seiner Anwendung über die Grenzen eines betriebsärztlichen Dienstes hinaus erscheint, wenige Einschränkungen beachtend, daher dringlich angeraten.…
