Benn." - - Each little tale (1 page) evokes the town of Chelm and its inhabitants, renowned for their naivety. - - Benn (Bension or Bencjon Rabinowicz) (Polish -French, 1905 - 1989) was a painter associated with the School of Paris. His early work was mostly figurative; much of his later work is inspired by the Bible, particularly the Book of Psalms.

Ouvrage en bel état.Chaque petit conte illustré évoque la ville de Chelm et ses habitants, réputés pour leur naïveté. BENN, acronyme de "Bençion Rabinowicz" est né en 1905 à Bialystok en Pologne et est décédé en 1989. C'est un peintre français d'origine russe rattaché à l'École de Paris.Il devient très tôt doué pour la peinture et dispense, en 1917, des cours particuliers de dessin.Il a été admis en 1929 à l'union des artistes professionnels et commence ainsi à exposer ses oeuvres à Bia ystok, Varsovie, etc. Il est lauréat d'une bourse de sa ville natale pour étudier trois ans à Paris. Il est inspiré par la Bible et en particulier par le Livre des Psaumes. Il est mobilisé sous le drapeau français. À son retour, lorsqu'il est démobilisé en 1939, BENN s'intéresse à la sculpture.Ses principales oeuvres ont été exposées à Washington, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, il s'agissait de 72 Dessins Prémonitoires. Elles ont également été exposées en France, à Paris, à la maison de l'Unesco pour Amour et paix une peinture murale datant de 1985, au musée Carnavalet pour un ensemble de paysages et de portraits de célébrités parisiennes, à Saint-Cloud au musée des Avelines pour Les Songes de la Bible.
