The first French language edition of Deutsch's oft reprinted and significant work "The Psychology of Women" which at the time of translation by Hubert Benoit was in its 7th English language edition. Covering every stage of a woman's life from infancy to death, it was one of the first serious clinical efforts to describe and understand the vastly different socio-psychological development of women, in a field that was mostly centred around trimming it to fit within the study of men. Dr. Deutsch was especially concerned with the dual nature of the female psyche, the constant battle between individuality autonomy and what she referred to as being "A Servant of The Species."
