Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. Benson, Harry (photography) (illustratore). 1st Edition. Fine condition glossy color photographic boards contained in a near fine condition non price-clipped color and black-and-white photographic dust jacket. Includes Author Dedication and Introduction by Patti Davis. Profusely illustrated with both color and black-and-white photographs by Harry Benson, 61 photographs in all, with 52 of them in full color. A 2 inch rectangular former owner address label is unobtrusively and neatly affixed to the upper left corner of the inner rear board. All pages are in fine condition and the binding/spine is in exceedingly tight and square unread condition (see photographs). Also includes an as new neatly trimmed original newspaper clipping, vintage Tuesday, June 6, 2006, showing former first lady Nancy Reagan leaving flowers at the memorial site of President Ronald Reagan on the second anniversary of his death. "In 1952 Ronald Reagan married Nancy Davis, and thus began a true American love story that has lasted for fifty years. The affection shared by the couple carried them from the movie lots of Hollywood, to California's governor's mansion, to the White House. Throughout it all, the Reagans have always been by each other's side. Here this loving relationship is celebrated in the photographs and personal recollections of world-renowned photographer Harry Benson. For almost forty years, while on assignment for America's most prestigious magazines, Benson, the Reagans' favorite photographer, has captured on film the couple at their ranches and homes, on the campaign trail, and at the White House. An introduction by Patti Davis offers a daughter's perspective. Davis writes, "I can turn these pages of [Benson's] photographs and see my parents' joy at simply being together. I can see them as people who nurtured their love for each other every day, who knew that friendship is the mortar holding love together, who closed their eyes when they kissed, and who held hands like teenagers." The photographs in these pages span four decades -- from the days of Reagan's run for the governorship of California to the last published photographs taken of the couple together, several years after the former president's public announcement that he has Alzheimer's disease. The President and Mrs. Reagan: An American Love Story is an intimate portrait of a dynamic, loving couple as well as a tribute to the fortieth president of the United States." -- from the inner front jacket flap.
