Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fair. [4], 79, [5] pages. DJ is in a plastic sleeve and has clipped front flap corners, Wear, tear, soiling and chips. This is a fast-moving, slashing poem of prize fighting, in short fiery rhymed lines. Here is the whole picture of America's prize-ring mania, of the men who fight and the men who watch; of the feverish excitement and the jungle heat of hunting, and particularly of "The Kid" and his struggle to become King of the Ring--"The Kid" for whom it is torture to be cruel. A portion of this poem is about a contest between the Kid and an African-American fighter. This includes some racial imagery and terminology that would be deemed offensive today. David Paul Berenberg (March 17, 1890 - March 7, 1974) was an American socialist teacher, editor, and writer. He is best remembered as a founder and editor of The American Socialist Quarterly, the theoretical magazine of the Socialist Party of America (SPA) during the 1930s. Stated Published September, 1931 and thus appears to be First Edition, First Printing.
