Le Groupe s'augmenta rapidement et admit en son sein des psychanalystes de grande renommée (Morgenstern - Rudolph Loewenstein qui fut le psychanalyste de Lacan - Sacha Nacht - Pierre Male - Charles Odier - Julien Rouart - Raymond de Saussure - Daniel Lagache - Favez-Boutonnier - Serge Lebovici - René Diatkine - Jacques Lacan - P.C. Racamier Charles Brisset .) et des psychiatres connus par leurs travaux de psychiatrie clinique, de psychopathologie, ou leurs affinités avec la psychologie des profondeurs ou la phénoménologie (Ceillier - Georges Daumezon - Deshaies - Dublineau - Duchêne - Henri Ey - Sven Follin - Fouquet - Laboucarié - Lanteri-Laura - Mignot - Montassut - Pichot - Tosquelles .) qui vinrent en grand nombre participer aux travaux de la Société et publièrent d'importants articles dans sa revue. After the successfui first edition of this seminar…in Delft, June 14-16, 1993, it was decided to repeat this event on a two year basis. This volume constitutes the edited proceedings of the Seminar. Thermal management of electronic systems is gaining importance. Whereas a few years ago papers on this subject where mainly devoted to applications in high end markets, such as mainframes and telecommunication switching equipment, we see a growing importance in the 'lower' end applications. This may be understood from the growing impact of electronics on every day life, from car electronics, GSM phones, personal computers to electronic games. These applications add new requirements to the thermal design. The thermal problem and the applicable cooling strategies are quite different from those in high end products. In this seminar the latest developments in many of the different aspects of the thermal design of electronic systems were discussed. Particular attention was given to thermal modelling, experimental characterisation and the impact of thermal design on the reliability of electronic systems.

Aprevious NATO Advanced Study Institute on the topic of heat pumps had b…een held in 1975. The significance of heat pumps with respect to energy conservation was the main topic of this Institute. In 1980it was felt that considerable research had to be done in order to be able to produce more energy efficient, less costly and more widely ap~licableheat ~umos. This requires a good understanding of the functioning of the types of heat pumps available. The simultaneous coverage of the basic funda mentals of heat pumps of different drive in one lecture series therefore was the goal of the 1980 Advanced Study Institute. Only a few lectures were devoted to heat pump applications. The lectures on heat pump applications were intended to ~ive only a short overview. They were supplemented by lectures on the latest developments on vapour compression as well as sorption systems.
