The endpapers are also marbled. Titles appear along the spine. With the exception of volumes 3, 9 and 11, the books' spines have gilt (gold) decorative patterning. Comments about condition now follow. They apply to all 6 books unless otherwise stated. Chipped at corners and showing some edgewear, faded in places. The spine/boards joints are held together with adhesive tape (volumes 5 & 7). The front board of volume 11 has completely detached from the book block (image). Internally, there is evidence of moderate tanning with occasional spotting. Text remains clean and crisp. First volume has a lengthy dedication in ink dated 1883 on one of the front free endpapers; as well as a seller's sticker (Th. Schulze's Buchhandlung, Hannover). The plays, King Lear and Hamlet, have a lot of pencil underlining and marking (image). Publication dates are as listed i.e. as 1872 except for vol. 1: 1871 and vol. 11: 1873. 110 x 165 mm. Sie gelten für alle 6 Bücher, sofern nicht anders angegeben. An den Ecken abgeplatzt und an den Kanten etwas abgenutzt, stellenweise ausgeblichen. Die Verbindungen zwischen Buchrücken und Vorder- und Rückseite werden mit Klebeband zusammengehalten (Bände 5 und 7). Der Vorderdeckel von Band 11 hat sich vollständig vom Buchblock gelöst. Im Inneren gibt es Hinweise auf eine mäßige Bräunung mit gelegentlichen Flecken. Der Text bleibt sauber und klar. Der erste Band trägt auf einem der vorderen Vorsatzblätter eine ausführliche Widmung in Tinte aus dem Jahr 1883; sowie einem Verkäufer Aufkleber (Th. Schulze's Buchhandlung, Hannover). In den Stücken König Lear" und Hamlet" gibt es viele Unterstreichungen und Markierungen mit Bleistift. Die Veröffentlichungsdatum sind wie angegeben, d. h. 1872, mit Ausnahme von Bd. 1: 1871 und Bd. 11: 1873. 110 x 165 mm.
