Blue cloth spine with gilt lettering; tan paper boards. Pale green top edge. Slight toning to endpapers. Author's ink signature "Daniel Berrigan, S.J." boldly written at a slight angle upon front free endpaper. Interior pages are otherwise bright and clean. Binding is firm. A near fine copy in a very good- dust jacket. Berrigan's third book overall and second poetry collection following his award winning TIME WITHOUT NUMBER published in 1957.

Dust jacket panels faded to pale blue with toning along edges as well as lengthwise to spine; tears and shallow chipping; publisher's printed price remains at front flap's bottom corner; dj…now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Cloth spine scuffed at head; patterned blue paper boards. Light toning to endpapers; front free endpaper's top right corner retains impression of partially erased two-line pencil ownership inscription "Kay Herdman | Le Moyne College" which actually provides a strong provenance for Berrigan's signature. Interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. A very good+ copy in a very good- dust jacket with ink signature "Daniel Berrigan, S.J." boldly written at top of front free endpaper. Berrigan received an appointment as professor of New Testament studies at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York in 1957 and, in the same year, was awarded the Lamont Prize for TIME WITHOUT NUMBER, his first published book of poems.
