Pour sa dix-septième « Carte blanche » à un artiste contemporain, le musée Guimet invite Park Dong-Soo à s'approprier la rotonde du quatrième étage.Après Lee Bae, Kim Chong-Hak et Min Jung-Yeon, il est le quatrième plasticien coréen à faire geste et à convier le visiteur à entrer dans son univers empreint du dansaekhwa, la peinture monochrome coréenne.Intitulée Cette place-là, son installation est une ode à la tradition coréenne de l'usage de l'encre noire et du papier hanji. Ces deux matériaux sont utilisés comme vecteur d'une proposition qui a pour thème autant la naissancede l'univers que sa disparition, avec pour point commun l'explosion, aussi bien primitive que destructrice. L'ajout de matière sous le papier mûrier permet à Park Dong-Soo de créer la profondeur dans son monochrome noir, d'inventerl'espace qui nous absorbe, à la découverte d'un espace-temps dérangeant et poétique tout différent du nôtre, dans un travail résolument coréen intégrant la voie méditative à sa peinture.
