Several versions of this famous speech have come to us, and among the most important and most cited versions of the speech are the one of Baldric of Dol and the version of the Gesta Francorum by an anonymous author. By comparing these two versions of the speech we are able to extract the reflections of the speech and the following events by every single author, which is inevitable for answering the question whether the Crusades were a spontaneous response to the Council of Clermont or a long and carefully developed plan for the conquest of the East.…

Ambitionen liefern, sollte die Arbeit untersuchen, welche anderen Möglichkeiten der politischen Einflussnahme den römischenFrauen zur Verfügung standen.Den Frauen war demzufolge der politische Raum verschlossen, d.h. die Ämter und Institutionen, in welchem Politik in Form von Abstimmungen und Gesetzen 'gemacht' wurde. Doch gerade die politische Struktur der römischen Republik, welche auf Konsens angelegt war, lässt den Schluss zu, dass Abstimmungen und Ergebnisse bereits vor ihrer Publikation im politischen Raum anderweitig besprochen und ausgehandelt wurden. Dies würde bedeuten, dass wir diese Konsensbildung in einem vor dem politischen Raum gelagerten Gebiet annehmen müssen; dabei spricht man dann vom vorpolitischen Raum.Es trat hierbei die Erkenntnis zu Tage, dass die dargestellten Frauen in ihrem Typus und Auftreten und in der Wirkung, die sie erzielten, alles andere als homogen waren. Die Möglichkeiten der Frau in der späten Republik waren aufgrund der sich ändernden politischen Grundlagen des Gemeinwesens somit vielfältiger als die der Frauen im Prinzipat. Somit konnte man schlussfolgern, dass der vorpolitische Raum und seine Transparenz zum politischen Raum für die Frauen gerade in der späten römischen Republik erweitert waren und verschiedenste Möglichkeiten der Einflussnahme boten. Jedoch mit der Konsolidierung des Prinzipates verschwand diese Transparenz zumindest für die Frauen, die keine Angehörigen des Kaiserhauses waren, ganz beträchtlich und beschränkte die Frau wieder auf ihre traditionelle Rolle.…
