The numerous diagrams and practical examples remain an excellent record of historical engineering education and are of interest to collectors of mathematics, engineering and industrial history. Bound in the original blue-green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine, the volume has an attractive utilitarian appearance typical of technical books of the era. It displays well as both a reference work and a decorative piece for an academic library, engineering office or industrial-themed collection. Condition is Good. The original cloth binding shows fading, particularly to the spine, together with rubbing, general shelf wear and fraying to the head and foot of the spine. The binding remains firm and sound. Internally the pages are clean with light age toning throughout. The endpapers show light foxing and minor handling marks, but the text and illustrations remain clear and easily readable. A desirable copy for collectors of vintage mathematics, engineering history, scientific textbooks, Longmans publications, industrial heritage, and early twentieth-century educational works. It also makes an excellent reference volume for those interested in the history of technical education and mechanical engineering.
