Die konservative Behandlung von Ischiasbeschwerden zielt in erster Linie auf die Schmerzlinderung ab, aber die Verbesserung des Bewegungsumfangs hat einen positiven Effekt auf die Wiederherstellung normaler Bewegungen und die Verringerung des Grades der Beeinträchtigung durch die Funktionsstörung des unteren Rückens. Bei den Techniken der neuralen Mobilisierung handelt es sich um passive oder aktive Bewegungen, die darauf abzielen, die Fähigkeit des Nervensystems wiederherzustellen, die normalen Druck-, Reibungs- und Zugkräfte zu tolerieren, die bei täglichen Aktivitäten auftreten. Die neurale Mobilisierung wird zur Behandlung einer ungünstigen Neurodynamik eingesetzt, um das dynamische Gleichgewicht zwischen der relativen Bewegung des Nervengewebes und den umgebenden mechanischen Schnittstellen wiederherzustellen und dadurch den intrinsischen Druck auf das Nervengewebe zu verringern und so eine optimale physiologische Funktion zu fördern.
