Doch inwieweit kann im Rahmen des Destinationsmanagements überhaupt Einfluss auf die Angebotsgestaltung genommen werden Birte Heidbreder setzt sich vor diesem Hintergrund kritisch mit den Möglichkeiten und Grenzen von Zertifizierungssystemen auseinander. Zunächst wird das Instrument Gütesiegel in die Handlungsmöglichkeiten des Destinationsmanagements eingeordnet und im weiteren Verlauf anhand von Expertenbefragungen auf dem Reiseveranstaltermarkt ermittelt, inwieweit Gütesiegel bei dieser bedeutenden Gruppe von Abnehmern Berücksichtigung finden. In diesem Zusammenhang zeigt die Autorin am Beispiel des costaricanischen Gütesiegels CST auf, in welche Richtung sich Zertifizierungssysteme entwickeln sollten, um für die Verbraucher nützlich bzw. anwendbar zu sein und damit Einfluss auf die Angebotsgestaltung nehmen zu können.
