Bles was de directeur van de Amsterdamsche vakschool voor heilgymnastiek en massage (fysiotherapie), de eerste opleiding voor heilgymnastiek en massage in Nederland. Het Genootschap ter beoefening van de Heilgymnastiek in Nederland heeft zich, vanaf de oprichting in 1889, sterk gemaakt voor verbetering van de kwaliteit van de beroepsuitoefening. Daar hoorden uiteraard exameneisen en in een later stadium een opleiding bij. Een subsidieaanvraag van het bovengenoemde Genootschap, ondertekend door de heren J. van Essen en W. Jansen, resp. voorzitter en en secretaris, aan de Eerste en Tweede Kamer der Staten-Generaal werd in 1909 ingediend in 1909. De subsidieaanvraag werd niet gehonoreerd.
