Dabei geht es um Haltungen entgegen dem Mainstream, um politische Einstellungen, aber auch um Identifikation stiftende Stilmittel wie Kleidung, Musik, Tanz oder Semiotik. In der Vergangenheit wurden diese Ausdrucksformen der Jugend- und Subkulturen immer wieder von Unternehmen kommerzialisiert und so vom Mainstream adaptiert. Während die Märkte gesättigt sind, versuchen Kommunikationsmanager\*innen in Werbekampagnen die Andersartigkeit, das teils Urbane und das Mystische der Jugend- und Subkulturen zu nutzen, um die vielen Konsument\*innen zu befriedigen, die nach Individualität streben. Vor allem der HipHop, der in dieser Forschungsarbeit im Fokus steht, musste gerade in seiner Anfangsphase viel mit der Aneignung der Kultur durch andere Musiker\*innen, Unternehmen oder der Werbung kämpfen. Besonders vor diesem Hintergrund bedarf es Fingerspitzengefühl in der Ausarbeitung von Kommunikationsmaßnahmen, bei denen mit Referenzen aus der HipHop-Kultur gearbeitet wird. Der Komplexität der HipHop-Kultur entsprechend, ergibt sich die Problemstellung.Kommunikationsmanager\*innen müssen eine Vielzahl von Faktoren beachten, um eine erfolgreiche Steigerung der Brand Equity (Markenwert) unter Einbezug von Referenzen aus dieser Kultur zu erreichen. Diese Erfolgsfaktoren werden in der vorliegenden Arbeit ermittelt und münden in einem Leitfaden für Kommunikationsmanager\*innen zur Betrachtung bei der Planung von Werbevideos mit Referenzen aus der HipHop-Kultur. Dafür wird auf eine Methodentriangulation zurückgegriffen, um das Themenfeld aus möglichst vielen Perspektiven zu beleuchten. Vorab wird eine ausführliche Literaturrecherche durchgeführt, woraus dann in Anlehnung an das Wirkungsstufen-Modell der DPRG (2009) das Cultural Credibility Modell gebildet wird. Dieses Modell wird mittels einer qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse von Werbevideos mit Referenzen aus der HipHop-Kultur weiterentwickelt.
