Slipcase, H 25cm x L 16.75cm; shelf rubbing to bottom panel; rubbing, toning, and surface nicks to rear and pictorial side panels; light staining to top panel with slender 5cm splitting at right-side seam; other seams are firm. Both volumes have requisite "First Edition" statements upon their respective copyright pages. No dust…jackets. Both hardcover, H 24cm x L 16cm. Burgundy cloth bindings; front boards retain bright gilt stamping; spines slightly mottled and faded with their stamping slightly dulled. Light red top edges; touch of soiling to Vol. I's lower fore-edge; usual slight sag to both volumes' text blocks. Bindings are firm. VOLUME ONE: i-xvi, 1-910, 1-127 pages; touch of soiling at top of front flyleaf verso and top of opposing half-title recto with latter also having short tear; interior pages are otherwise bright and clean; glued down to front free endpaper is small stationery sheet from Jefferson Bookstore, Yoknapatawpha, Oxford, Miss. with undated handwritten eight-line ink note (ALS) from author to a prominent Columbus, MS attorney and University of Mississippi board member Hunter M. Gholson with concluding two lines "With best wishes, Joseph Blotner;" operating dates of the Jefferson Bookstore are unknown but, at best, its was a short-lived operation probably open between 1975 to 1978 (Richard Howorth, owner of Oxford's landmark Square Books which was founded in 1979, mentions in a blog that Blotner had a book-signing at a Duvall's clothing store in 1974 as there was no bookstore in Oxford at that time). VOLUME TWO: i-x, 911-1846, [1], 128-269, [2] pages; leaves are bright and clean.
