Leipzig besitzt eine Vielzahl an Zeugnissen des Jugendstils. Die Stadt bietet aus der Zeit der Jahrhundertwende eine Vielfalt künstlerischen Schaffens in Architektur, Plastik und im Kunsthandwerk. Der Jugendstil hat in Leipzig eigene Facetten hervorgebracht. Typisch vor allem für den Geschäftshausbau wurden neobarocke und Neorenaissance-Fassaden mit Zierelementen des Jugendstils. Bodo Pientka und Bertram Kober stellen bemerkenswerte Beispiele in Wort und Bild vor: Kommunal- und Sakralbauten, die vom Jugendstil beeinflusst wurden, Villen, Wohn- und Geschäftshäuser.
