A semi-biographical conversation between two leading satirists of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century England, Jonathan Swift (1667-1745) and John Gay (1685-1732). Swift and Gay talk about another leading satirist, William Congreve (1670-1729), who is known for his clever writing and dialogues that satirized social norms. The conversation follows the comedy of manners style, which Congreve, Swift, and Gay were known for.
