Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Very Good. "The Young Crusader" was the National Women's Christian Temperance Union Magazine for Children . This issue dates from June of 1933. The women of the National Women's Christian Temperance Union knew that children need solid guidance and an outlet for their growing minds. "The Young Crusader" pr…ovided such an outlet, with stories, poems, and articles on various subjects, including natural history. There is one temperance song - but the over all the tone of the magazine is light . it is not preachy, and obviously was something to which children could relate. The stories are cute and engaging, and the illustrations capture the eye. The black and white photograph of a little girl looking out from amidst flowers in a garden is poignantly charming. These are uncommon on the market. TITLE : The Young Crusader ISSUE : Volume XLVI , Number 6 DATE : June, 1933 EDITORS : Mrs. Ella A. Boole and Katherine P. Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - 'Give Prohibition Its Chance' is a compelling and historically significant defense of the Eighteenth Amendment, written during a critical juncture in the American experiment with alcohol prohibition. Authored by Ella A. Boole, the renowned president of the Woman's Christian Temperance Unio…n (WCTU), this work provides a firsthand perspective on the moral, social, and economic arguments that fueled the temperance movement in the United States. The text delves into the perceived benefits of the prohibition era, with Boole arguing that the restriction of alcohol led to improved public health, greater industrial efficiency, and the protection of the family unit. Addressing the various criticisms and enforcement challenges of the late 1920s, Boole calls for patience and civic duty, urging the nation to allow the law enough time to demonstrate its full potential for social progress. This work serves as an essential primary source for understanding the ideology of social reformers during the Interwar period and the powerful influence of women's political activism in shaping national policy. 'Give Prohibition Its Chance' is a fascinating exploration of a transformative era in American law and society, offering deep insight into the debates over personal liberty and the common good. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - 'Give Prohibition Its Change' is a persuasive and historical defense of the Eighteenth Amendment, written by Ella A. Boole, a prominent leader in the temperance movement. Published during the height of the national debate over alcohol consumption in the United States, this work serves as b…oth a call to action and a detailed argument for the continued enforcement of Prohibition. Boole provides an insider's perspective on the social and moral objectives of the movement, highlighting the perceived benefits of a dry nation for families, industry, and public health. The text delves into the history of the temperance struggle, the legislative path to the amendment, and the practical challenges of enforcement in the late 1920s. Boole challenges critics of the law, arguing that the social experiment had not yet been given a fair opportunity to succeed. By addressing contemporary concerns regarding lawlessness and personal liberty, 'Give Prohibition Its Change' offers a significant look into the ideology that shaped American social policy during the early 20th century.
