Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. First edition. Quarto [31 cm] Brown cloth covered boards lettered in gold on the spine and front cover. Brown endpapers. In the dust jacket, with light soiling, and periodic shallow closed tears and chips to the edges. From the Introduction- "Borein's Indians are "imagined" Indians. As men and women they are real, but their raiment generally is a mixture of styles and ornament, just as is the dress of the modern off-the-Reservation Indian. From Borein's drawings it is sometimes difficult to name for them a definite time and place when their dress alone is our guide. To me this is unimportant, for Borein's drawings and etchings present believable scenes and they present the story of the Indian's meetings and conflicts with the white man as Borein understood them to have been, as a result of his own long association with them.".
