Slipcase is pretty beat up, with fraying at edges and a tear all along the bottom right corner and partially on top, retaped with medical tape. Books themselves are very good, with sunning on spine, bumping to some corners, and light soil on covers and edge. Journal are daily entries of their tour from August 15 - November 11, 1773. Includes the monthly letter of the L.E.C. (laid-in) and six appendices at the end of the journal. Considered a classic of travel writing, a volume of love and deep respect by Johnson's closest friend. Nice copy.
