Rare exemplaire bien complet des 20 planches hors texte illustrées par le…peintre (et décorateur à la manufacture de Sèvres) Théophile Fragonard (1806-1876) pour cette suite peu commune au roman d'Eugène Sue. Édition originale. Exemplaire partiellement débroché, dos fendu, petit manque angulaire supérieur droit de la première de couverture, intérieur convenable avec quelques rousseurs. RARISSIME, surtout en broché. Né à Poitiers, l'auteur Adolphe Boucher (1800-1857), dont le nom s'orthographie plus souvent "Bouchet", mena essentiellement une carrière d'acteur. Débutant en 1828 à la Comédie Française, il passera également par le théâtre de la Renaissance, puis de l'Odéon. Théophile Fragonard (illustratore).
