Six separate books collectively bound within single volume NEW VOYAGES AND TRAVELS VOLUME III by Richard Phillips and Co. all issued in 1820. Hardcover: H 20.75cm x L 14cm. Modern (mid-20th century) inelegant blue buckram cloth rebinding; gilt stamped spine lettering heavily flaked. New endpapers. Personal sextant-themed bookpla…te of E. Lee Dorsett (St. Louis physician, naval historian, and author Edward Lee Dorsett, 1883-1967) on front pastedown. Following ffep is a collective title page in modern typescript but which cites only five of the six books within. Some foxing, toning, and scattered soiling to leaves. Binding is firm. ***** {BOOK #1} TRAVELS IN AFRICA, TO THE SOURCES OF THE SENEGAL AND GAMBIA, IN 1818. by Gaspard Theodore Mollien (1796-1872). Lacks title leaf (i.e. pages i-ii) but is likely the 1820 edition by London's Sir Richard Phillips and Co. as the book's other imprints date to the same year (but there was also a Phillips 1825 edition). An abridged translation of: "Voyage dans l'interieur de l'Afrique, aux sources du Senegal et de la Gambie." Collates as iii-ix, [1], 1-8, [plate], 9-44, [plate], 45-94, [plate], 95-98, [plate], 99-128. Foldout map (presumably as frontis) as cited by OCLC is not present; four unpaged b/w plates are present as called for by OCLC. ***** {BOOK #2} TRAVELS IN BRAZIL, IN 1815, 1816, AND 1817.
