First edition. Twelvemo (3 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches). [vi], 179, [1] pp. Publisher's green cloth with lettering in black on front and spine. A very good copy. This copy is inscribed by Braunton to an Alberta Mann and the front pastedown bears an original photograph of the rugged author leaning against a large cairn. Harold was a San Francisco resident and quite the inventor; he held at least two patents for automobile parts. The first essay concerns a hile in the Sierra Nevasda Mountains (no doubt the site of the photograph). This book, in essence, is a collection of diatribes about how to make one's way in the world. Some are quite prescient, others just strange.
