Kate Brownlee Sherwood [1841-1914] was an American poet, journalist, and translator from Ohio, also known as a story writer, philanthropist, patron of art and literature. She is best known as the author of army lyrics and poems written for the celebration of military occasions, with this title being a full-length patriotic poem. Isaac Ruth Sherwood [1835-1925] was an American politician and newspaper editor from Toledo, Ohio, as well as an officer in the Union army during the Civil War. He served nine terms in the United States Congress, and was a noted pacifist during World War I. An uncommon title. Original Drawings by J.E. Kelly and George W. Breck.
