Da: David Hallinan, Bookseller, Columbus, MS, U.S.A.
Single large sheet folded vertically to form 4 pages. Folded dimensions of H 17 inches x L 11.5 inches. Light stains to front cover (i.e. page 1) illustrated with color image of Brennan's building at top with text starting with "Breakfast at Brennan's" with list of "Eye-Openers" (i.e. alcoholic drinks) and bottom half of page featuring wine list divided into quadrants of white, red, rose, and sparkling. Inside pages (i.e. pages 2-3) provide full menu "Dejeuner a la Fourchette" with Oeufs (eggs), Crustaceans-Poissons (fish-crustaceans), Viandes (meat), and Desserts with single blemish of light brown stain below center of each page. Heavily soiled rear cover illustrated with famous multi-colored Brennan's rooster. Only a good copy but interesting restaurant ephemera. Founded in 1946 by restaurateur Owen Brennan, Brennan's French Restaurant remains a culinary destination for New Orleans' residents and tourists alike. Originally located on Bourbon Street, Brennan's moved to their 417 Royal Street address in 1956. Menu prices range from as low as $1.00 and $1.50 for several egg dishes to as high as $5.00 for Pompano Toulouse and Steak Tartar a la Maison. Among the dessert options is, of course, the restaurant's renowned Bananas Foster, which is priced at $1.50. Such prices would seem to date the menu to the late 1960s or perhaps very early 1970s.
