Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. An unusual documentary photography project conceived in 2005, Border Film Project placed 600 disposable cameras in the hands of two groups on opposite sides of the U.S.-Mexico border: undocumented migrants attempting the crossing and American Minutemen volunteers observing the border. The resulting photographs, accompanied by firsthand testimony, document the desert landscape, makeshift shelters, personal belongings, border patrol activity, and the experiences of individuals whose perspectives seldom appear together in a single photographic work. Rather than relying exclusively on professional photojournalists, the creators invited participants to record their own experiences, producing a compelling example of participatory documentary photography. Original illustrated hardcover with light rubbing and minor shelf wear, including modest wear at the spine ends and corners. The kraft-paper surfaces and die-cut photographic openings remain attractive. Interior pages are clean and bright, with well-preserved color reproductions. No dust jacket, as issued. A distinctive first-printing copy of a visually innovative work of documentary photography and social history. The design is a particularly interesting feature of this edition. The credited studio, karlssonwilker inc., used an unconventional combination of uncoated kraft-paper boards, oversized sans-serif typography, a continuous white border graphic, and circular photographic cutouts. The two cover portraits visually introduce the book's opposing perspectives before the reader reaches the title page. The photographic method is equally significant. By distributing cameras to participants rather than merely photographing them, the creators made the image-makers themselves part of the documentary process. This distinguishes the book from more conventional photojournalistic treatments of immigration.…
