Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Over the past few decades, the book series Linguistische Arbeiten [Linguistic Studies], comprising over 500 volumes, has made a significant contribution to the development of linguistic theory both in Germany and internationally. The series will continue to deliver new impulses for research and maintain the central insight of linguistics that progress can only be made in acquiring new knowledge about human languages both synchronically and diachronically by closely combining empirical and theoretical analyses. To this end, we invite submission of high-quality linguistic studies from all the central areas of general linguistics and the linguistics of individual languages which address topical questions, discuss new data and advance the development of linguistic theory.; 'Kausale Satzverbände' ist in dieser Arbeit der zusammenfassende Terminus für jegliche Verknüpfungen von traditionell sogenannten adverbialen Kausalsätzen (bzw. reason clauses in der CGEL) mit ihren Bezugsätzen. Diese Verknüpfungen können 'taktischer' Natur sein (Para- und Hypotaxe ohne syntaktische Konstituenzbeziehung), oder der Kausalsatz kann in seinen Bezugsatz eingebettet sein (Kausalsatz ist Teil der VP des übergeordneten Satzes). Because-Sätze sind (abgesehen von den sprechaktbezogenen) eingebettet; as-, since- und for-Sätze sind taktisch verknüpft. Aus sprechakttheoretischen und begriffsanalytischen Überlegungen in Verbindung mit den syntaktischen Analysen wird abgeleitet, daß Ursache-Wirkung-Beziehungen durch Sätze mit eingebetteten Kausalsätzen repräsentiert werden und Grund-Folge-Beziehungen durch taktisch mit ihrem Bezugsatz verknüpfte Kausalsätze. Hierbei lehnt sich die begriffliche Bestimmung u.a. an J. Lyons an, der von 'Ursache' als 'second-order entity' spricht und von 'Grund' als 'third-order entity'. Diese syntaktisch-semantische Entsprechung spiegelt sich texttypologisch wider. Beispielsweise findet man Gründe repräsentierende since- und as-Sätze signifikant häufiger als im Durchschnitt in den wissenschaftlichen Texten des LOB-Corpus, in solchen also, in denen man das Argumentieren mit Gründen von vornherein erwartet. Alle im LOB-Corpus vorkommenden kausalen Satzverbände sind identifiziert und mittels Textstellenkürzel aufgelistet. Satz- bzw. Textbeispiele sind, soweit möglich, dem LOB-Corpus entnommen.
