Back outer hinge veneer is split not affecting strength of hinge. Chipping pronounced at top and bottom of spine. Spine missing about half of top 1/4" down from top edge. Bottom of spine missing a 1/4" x 1/4" piece. Two period owner's signatures, one on the front endpaper and the other on the front flyleaf. The first is dated December 5th 1857 by a Lewis S. McCormic of Westchester in pencil and McCormic, intent of protecting his property, has re-inscribed the volume on the flyleaf in quill pen and dated it again December 5th 1857. The endpapers are moderately soiled, There is occasional mild foxing. One signature is pulled but holding nicely. The hinges are tight and overall the text is bright. No underlining or highlighting.…
