G. B.". On the alleged advantages of the chinese culture. The respondent had travelled to China twice as a chaplain on ships belonging to the Swedish East India Company. In his treatise, he argues against the opinion that the Chinese culture has any advantages whatsoever over the European, as Leibnitz, among others, is said to have claimed. Svenonius is especially thorough in his examination of the Chinese language, and one of his claims is that it unuseful for scientific purposes.
