With "BA Commercial Aircraft Division" stamp on verso. The Concorde is a retired Anglo-French supersonic airliner jointly developed and manufactured by Sud Aviation and the British Aircraft Corporation. The airliner could maintain a supercruise up to Mach 2.04 [1,350 mph] at an altitude of 60,000 ft. Concorde entered service with Air France from Paris-Roissy and British Airways from London Heathrow. Transatlantic flights were the main market, to Washington Dulles and to New York JFK. Air France and British Airways remained the sole customers with seven airframes each, for a total production of twenty. Supersonic flight more than halved travel times, but sonic booms over the ground limited it to transoceanic flights only. The Concorde aircraft were retired in 2003, 27 years after commercial operations had begun. Most of the aircraft remain on display in Europe and North America.

From Introduction: The snow which fell in April this year gave our Engineers in the Central Area an opportunity to test a scheme which they intended to introduce this Winter. It proved to have considerable merit. In severe conditions of snow or freezing rain loaded aircraft will depart from their operating stands and go to the runway via a designated area where static ABC fluid dispensing units will de-ice and de-snow the aircraft. This is expected to save considerable time, be much more effective, and hence enable us to operate flights which would otherwise have to be cancelled. The dispensers used in this area will be of American design, four of which will be in position by December. These units, operating at much higher pressure, are expected to clean an aircraft considerably faster. For moderate Winter de-icing the present eight Simons Towers will still be available to service aircraft on their stands. It will be for the Engineers to decide when conditions are sever enough to move aircraft to static units. This presents a basic change to our operating techniques.
