The story of how a 15 by 17 foot log cabin, built about 1863, was accidentally discovered under asbestos shingles and built around as a home in 1960 at 2236 South 9th Street. When built the cabin was south of the village of Lancaster which was renamed Lincoln when the first state capital was located there in 1867. The cabin was saved, dismantled and logs numbered, moved to the Nebraska State Fairgrounds and was restored, then when the state fair moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, the cabin was again moved to Lincoln's Pioneers Park. Illustrated by diagrams, drawings and photos. Contains a biography of Thomas Jefferson Hudson one of Lancaster county's first settlers and whose descendants still live in the city. Although the exact number printed is not know, it is felt to be less than 200.
