Den stenrige godsmagnat var for åbenhjertig omkring dronning Sophie Amalies dydighed eller mangel på samme, og det kostede ham ære og gods. Livet bevarede han dog. Lykke fortrak til det nu svenske Skaane, så man måtte nøjes med at maltraktere en dukke på skafottet foran Københavns Slot.
