Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Special edition. Slate gray decorated cloth, illus. flyleaves,128 pp., BW illus., 10 color lithographs. A children's book starring Kobi, a young boy who lives on a Swiss farm and is permitted to "go for the first time with the men who tended the animals in the summertime in the Alps." (opening page adjacent to half-ti…tle page) The outstanding feature here are the original lithographs by Swiss-American illustrator Conrad Buff (1886-1975). 10 are in full color, and some of these are even double-page spreads. Other BW illustrations pepper the pages, and some are full-page. Buff certainly knew his subject matter, since he lived in this landscape until he emigrated to America in the early part of the 20th century. A nice example of the kinds of illustrated children's books we had, between and after the Wars. G+ (Ex-gallery owned, with front pocket and few marks; binding has moderate wear to edges, corners, and head and heel of outer spine; slight soiling to covers; interior is clear; color lithographs are vibrant.).
