Aggiungi al carrelloHardback. Condizione: New. For nearly fifty years "the building" has primarily been viewed as a means rather than an end within architectural history and theory. This volume presents an alternative to that trend by reconceiving it as a central discursive category in its own right. Contributors-including architects and academics from world-renowned institutions-offer insightful discussions of key architectural structures conceived in Europe, Asia, and the U.S.A. over the last three decades. In doing so they propel architectural thinking's importance as a domain of knowledge. Further, in exploring those structures through a number of questions both intra- and meta-disciplinary, this book suggests ways in which buildings can trigger conceptual frameworks whose influence extends well beyond architecture. A balanced text-to-image ratio caters to readers in both practice and academia.

Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. North Gallery : Volume 7 displays work from six exhibitions that appeared in the Yale School of Architecture gallery during the 2023-24 academic year.Beginning in the Spring 2018 semester, the Yale School of Architecture Gallery launched a program to give students the opportunity to curate and stage exhibitions. The content is driven by student proposals and strives to be responsive to current interests and concerns in the school, while remaining open to the unique perspectives that stem from the breadth of our students' backgrounds and outlooks. This publication gathers six exhibitions from the 2023-24 academic year. The first two ran in parallel to the exhibition in our main gallery, Isaac Julien: Lina Bo Bardi A Marvellous Entanglement. The students were asked to also situate their proposals in relationship to Lina Bo Bardi, to provide further entanglements. The Spring semester brought a range of topics and approaches, from the urgent and activist, to critical and even whimsical takes on history. The last show was a unique one, gathering artwork (watercolors and sketches) by Professor Emeritus Alec Purves. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
