Rare original Victorian botany book, "The Cyclopædia of Useful & Ornamental Plants used in the Arts, in Medicine, and for Ornament, with a Scientific and Popular Description of each Plant, and an Account of its Uses and Mode of Culture." The book is illustrated with 20 lovely hand-colored plates as called for. It is undated but circa sometime around the 1850's-1860's. The book is overall in Good+ condition with some signs of wear and age. It is an old ex-institutional library copy with a bookplate to the front pastedown, slight evidence of label/bookplate removal to the rear pastedown, some evidence of a possible repairs at the front & rear interior hinges, a perforated & inked stamp to the title page & few other pages, and possibly a few other minor library markings. The frontispiece's protective tissue guard is no longer present. The covers have some light wear with sunning to the spine and a little bit of edge wear. The binding is good and sound. The interior is toned from age with some very occasional light foxing & grubbiness. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a tiny chip or tear, creased page corner, minor stain or marking, etc. The book measures approximately 11 inches by 8 1/2 inches and is 481 pages long.
