Pendant la période… de réhabilitation, le parc est resté occupé par plusieurs groupes armés : coupeurs des routes, mai mai, FDLR, etc. L'exploitation pétrolière au Parc National de Virunga était repartie, par le gouvernement de la RDC en 5 blocs confiés, depuis 2009, aux différentes entreprises : Total, ENI, Shel et SOCO (Royaume-Uni). Les permis d'exploitation couvraient 58% de la superficie du parc alors que la loi congolaise interdit l¿exploitation de tout genre dans le Virunga. Le Lac Edouard comptait 29.500 hippopotames, 28 espèces d'amphibiens et était le lac le plus poissonneux d'Afrique et de la RDC. Actuellement, ces espèces tendent à disparaître suite aux différentes activités humaines sur le lac. Cette exploitation engendrerait, à cause des externalités négatives de la RDC, la marée noire et serait à la base de la guerre de l¿eau car le lac Edouard constitue la source du Nil blanc et du Nil bleu terminant sa course dans la méditerranée.

Während der Rehabilitationsphase wurde der Park von mehreren bewaffneten Gruppen besetzt: Straßenräuber, Mai Mai, FDLR, etc. Die Erdölförderung im Virunga-Nationalpark wurde von der Regierung der DRK in fünf Blöcke aufgeteilt, die seit 2009 an verschiedene Unternehmen vergeben wurden: Total, ENI, Shel und SOCO (Großbritannien). Die Abbaulizenzen deckten 58% der Fläche des Parks ab, obwohl das kongolesische Gesetz jegliche Art von Ausbeutung in Virunga verbietet. Der Lac Edouard beherbergte 29.500 Flusspferde, 28 Amphibienarten und war der fischreichste See Afrikas und der DRK. Derzeit neigen diese Arten dazu, aufgrund der verschiedenen menschlichen Aktivitäten auf dem See zu verschwinden. Diese Ausbeutung würde aufgrund der negativen externen Effekte der DRK zu einer Ölpest führen und wäre die Grundlage für den Wasserkrieg, da der Eduardsee die Quelle des Weißen und des Blauen Nils ist, die im Mittelmeer enden. 56 pp. Deutsch.

Les permis d'exploitation couvraient 58% de la superficie du parc alors que la loi congolaise interdit l'exploitation de tout genre dans le Virunga. Le Lac Edouard comptait 29.500 hippopotames, 28 espèces d'amphibiens et était le lac le plus poissonneux d'Afrique et de la RDC. Actuellement, ces espèces tendent à disparaître suite aux différentes activités humaines sur le lac.
