Established 1850 and Gay & Hancock, Ltd. Established 1891 | The Sportsman's Library, etc. (Philip Allan & Co., Ltd.) | Various titles transferred from Alexander Maclehose & Co.' Scarce: no other copy traced, either on OCLC WorldCat or on COPAC.

With Geographical Descriptions, and an Index of 57,5000 Names. Complete with sixty maps engraved on steel, on fifty-four sheets. Oversized folio, publisher's black morocco spine and corners; cloth sides. Vertical creases to flyleaves; some tissue overleaves damages; maps in very nice condition. The binding has some stains and wear, but is tight and sound.

He concludes by stating that he will 'send for it' that evening, 'as Mr Bruce wishes to have it to send to Dymock tomorrow morning'. 'Mr Bruce' may be the future Sir James Knight Bruce (1791-1866); 'Dymock' is William Dymock, the Edinburgh advocate. "Maurice" might well be Maurice Lothian, a procurator fiscal.
