Rare and original very large dramatic engraving (19 inches by 12 inches) produced to commemorate the Great Fire of Chigago of October 1871 and derived from a famous painting by Edward Armitage which was presented to the City Fathers.The double page spread appeared in a c…opy of the Graphic periodical in 1873 and is high quality work in Fine, sharp condition with a light vertical centre fold (almost disappears when pressed flat e.g. for framing) and a few very light age marks to the ample margins. Printed text to rear but no show-through. The picture is full of dramatic imagery and symbolism. Delivered safely and securely in a cardboard tube. C. Roberts (engraver) (illustratore).
