Aggiungi al carrelloHard Back. Condizione: Fine. No Dust Jacket. First Edition Stated. 272 Pages. There are four author inscriptions on the title page. No. 1- Signature only of Clyde C. Callahan. No. 2 - "To Eva and Bruce Larrick Best Regards ----.Byron B. Jones". No. 3 "Sincere best wishes to my friends the Larrick's Grace Knox." Nol 4 " To Guy Sp…enser 2005". Tan cloth binding. Frank Nash was, perhaps, the most successful bank robber in history. Though this dubious claim to fame has never been publicized in the manner of the exploits of the Jameses, the Daltons or the Wild Bunch, his saga is more noteworthy than that of any appearing upon the outlaw scene, past or present. If for no other reason, his name will live as the central figure in the infamous Kansas City Union Station Massacre. This event, however, was merely the grand exit to a career of bank robbing unparalleled by either old-time outlaw or modern day gangster. His record of twenty-plus successful such robberies, planned and participated in during a period of slightly less than two years as a member of the Spencer Gang, is a record in itself; when added to his subsequent jobs as leader of his own band, the total becomes truly amazing - over a hundred, it is said. Frank Nash's career overlapped a period encompassing the last throes of the old-time Western outlaw and the birth pangs of the more sophisticated urban criminal. In the manner of his earlier legacy, he "died with his boots on," not in a man to man, "High Noon" shoot out, it is true, but in a blaze of gunfire, none the less, between the good guys and the bad guys. Even in dying, he retained something of the old, something of the new. It was the "last hurrah" of the era of the Western good-bad man, and from whatever Valhalla exists for this bygone breed, the shades of Jesse and Frank James, Bob, Emmett, and Grat Dalton, Jim and Cole Younger, Al Spencer, Bill Cook, Henry Starr and the rest, undoubtedly applaud. Oklahoma has had more than its share of outlaws and gunmen. Knox, Grace - Color Illsutrations (illustratore). Inscribed By Authors.
