LACKING the original folding map but facsimile of the map now attached opposite title page (same place as original). Solid binding. The book measures 216mm tall x 140mm and has 198 + [2] pages, 7 b/w plates (5 are engravings of scenes, one is sketches of people, one is a diagram), folding map (original missing but supplied here in facsimile), three appendices including one by Hooker presenting botanical analysis of specimens collected by the expedition. The William Taylor who has signed the title-page could be one of the two such-named crew members of Cook's final voyage. He was still living in 1825, though I have not been able to verify the signature.
