Burgundy gilt stamped cloth over boards, black-and-white frontispiece photograph of the Troy Police Department 1901, 202 pages (text ends on page 155 and advertisements follow), illustrated advertisements on endpapers, illustrated throughout with black-and-white photographs including many portraits of policeman, group shots of personnel of police precincts, illustrated and non-illustrated advertisements for Troy businesses (collar manufacturers, brewery, revolvers, harness company, slaughterers). his is quite a detailed account of the police department and includes chapters on: Annexation of Lansingburgh; Early Disturbances (Indian Quarrel 1806, Riot 1837, Draft Riots); Noted Crimes and Trials (First Public Executions and Troy); Sensational Homicides (Killing of Patrolman Crandell, "Bat" Shea and His Victim). The book also provides biographical information of the City Administration, the Administrators of the police force, the subordinate officers, and a roster of the patrolmen who constituted the police force at that time. Wear at extremities, covers stained, scattered light staining throughout. musty smell, names of previous owners (both seem to have been police officers) in ink and pencil on front fly leaf.
