Trade paperback. 312 p. Includes illustrations. Fold-out schedule From Wikipedia: "The Miami Marlins are an American professional baseball team based in Miami, Florida. The Marlins are a member of the National League (NL) East division in Major League Baseball (MLB). Their home park is Marlins Park. The team began play in the 19…93 season as the Florida Marlins. They played home games from their inaugural season to the 2011 season at Sun Life Stadium, which they shared with the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). Per agreement with the city and Miami-Dade County (which owns the park), the Marlins officially changed their name to the "Miami Marlins" on November 11, 2011. They also adopted a new logo, color scheme, and uniforms. The Marlins have the distinction of winning a World Series championship in both seasons they qualified for the postseason, doing so in 1997 and 2003 both times as the National League wild card team." Original Wraps. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket as issued. 2nd Edition. Finely printed at the Kynoch Press, Witton, Birmingham for the Lygon Arms and designed by Eric Ravilious with his wood engraving to the cover and titlepage. First printed in 1933 this is effectively the 1935 first reprint in the same format with the same co…ntent and not a new edition as such. Presumably the first short print run sold out in two years and the Lygon Arms ordered a reprint which in turn sold out resulting in the third more common printing in 1938. Promotional booklet for the hotel, the Gordon Russell furniture showroom as well as the Broadway environs. Some slight foxing to the page edges otherwise a firm, clean copy. Eric Ravilious (illustratore).

Original Wraps. Condizione: Good. No Jacket as issued. First Edition. With an introduction on the Cotswold Scene by H.W. Timperley. Finely printed at the Kynoch Press in original yellow wrappers designed by Ravilious and bearing his fine wood engraving of the Lygon Arms, reproduced as a vignette on the title-page ( See page 52 o…f 'Eric Ravilious Design' by Webb and Skipwith, Antique Collectors' Club Art Books 2015). pp62 with 30 monochrome plates, including those of Gordon Russell furniture. The uncommon first printing. Probably produced in a print run of only a couple of hundred copies to promote the Lygon Arms, the Gordon Russell furniture workshop and the Broadway environs. It clearly sold reasonably briskly at 1/- a copy as it was subsequently re-issued in the same format in 1935 and 1938. This copy has a 2cm chip with loss to the base of the spine and a contemporary fountain pen inked note in the margin of page 33 relating to an inhabitant the village of Snowshill, one' Kite Schemer' cited as the inventor of the sewing machine. This is a reference to Charles 'schemer' Kyte by whom, it is claimed, the sewing machine was invented in 1842. See Graham Fosdyke's address to the International Sewing Machine Collectors Society: June 2013. An otherwise clean. firm copy. Eric Ravilious (illustratore).

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Blank notebook. Small quarto. Contemporary quarter leather over marbled paper boards. The boards are rubbed and worn at the edges, very good. Contains about 100 manuscript pages, including a title page, one full-page hand drawn map, and tipped-in illustration. Handwritten itinerary tipped onto f…ront pastedown. A lively account, by one of the participants, of a journey undertaken by five rowers in a Thames rowing gig *Wild Goose* from April-May, 1856. The five Englishmen, named on the title page, journeyed from Paris to the Mediterranean (via the Seine, Saône, and Rhone Rivers), and then to Bordeaux (via the canal du Midi and Garonne River), a total of approximately 670 rowing miles, with other parts of the journey accomplished by portage overland. Much of the narrative concerns appalling weather and mishaps during the voyage, including lively descriptions and humorous asides. The exploits of these eccentric Englishmen captured the public imagination, and the Wild Goose's travels were also well-documented in the press. In later stages of their journey, landfalls were attended by large and enthusiastic crowds: " as we approached the town, the excitement became greater and greater; we were accompanied by hundreds of men and boys running along the towing path, while women and old men stationed themselves so as to see us pass when we reached the foot of a staircase of five locks the sides of the locks, the lockgates, and the windows of the overlooking houses, were simply a mass of human faces The crowd was composed of all ranks, from ladies with white parasols and Paris fashions down to peasant girls with bare feet, and half savage, mahogany colored rustics And although we could not but be flattered by such an ovation, our self-love was rather hurt at hearing that the principal cause of all this excitement was a report that we had undertaken the journey for a bet of 500,000 francs." Included in the account are extracts from the French and English press, highlighted by a wood engraving of the gig and its crew tipped-in from the popular French magazine *L'Illustration*. The hearty oarsmen achieved further fame by rescuing passengers in a carriage from drowning, an event which was reported fulsomely in the *Daily News* on May 26th. An actual, non-fictional account of the sort of English eccentricity popularized 30 years later by Jerome K. Jerome's comic novel *Three Men in a Boat*.
