Vintage borderless photograph from the 1968 film, showing Alan Arkin, Sondra Locke, and an unidentified man at the film's premiere. Metropolitan Photo Service stamp on the verso. One of the great film adaptations of any American novel, starring Locke in her screen debut, opposite Arkin. Although much of the political aspect of M…cCullers' novel was removed from the film, the themes present in the author's work are readily apparent: race, loneliness, impoverishment, and anger. Arkin and Locke were nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress Oscars. Shot on location in Selma, Alabama. 10 x 8 inches. Very Good plus.

Based on Carson McCullers' beloved 1946 novel, which McCullers also adapted for Broadway in 1950, starring actors E…thel Waters and Julie Harris, who reprised their roles for the film. A young, lonely tomboy dreams of escaping her small southern town with her brother and his fiancée. Harris was 27, more than double the age of the fictional Frankie Addams, at the time of the film's production. Set in the American South. 35 photographs 10 x 8 inches, one 7.5 x 9.25 inches. Generally Very Good plus to Near Fine, a couple with annotations in manuscript ink on the margins.
