Trade Paperback. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. 226 Pages Indexed. The three exhibitions were: London 12 April to August 1988, Paris 20 September to 31 December 1988, and Washington 29 January to 30 April 1989. This exhibition reveals the immense diversity of Cezanne's creative imagination. It also shows us the richness and beauty of the quasi-expressionist technique that characterizes his work prior to the influence of orthodox impressionism and the concomitant emergence of his more characteristic constructive brushstroke in the mid-1870S. For more than a century, Cezanne's early work has been both controversial and perplexing to most viewers. However, in the careful examination of a large number of early works of great quality, the exhibition confirms the artist as a painter and draftsman of remarkable and consistent stature from the very beginning of his career. Contents: Foreword, Lenders to the Exhibition, Acknowledgements, Photographic Acknowledgements, Editorial Note, Introduction, The Early Work of Paul Cezanne, Parisian Writers and the Early Work of Cezanne, Literature Music and Cezanne's Early Subjects, La Lutte d'armour, The Collector's of Cezanne's Early Work, The Catalogue, Chronology, Concordance of Works in the Exhibition, List of Exhibitions including Cezanne's Early Work, and Select Bibliography. Green, Harry - Designer (illustratore). …

Paperback. Condizione: Very Good+. First Edition. Oblong 8vo 8" to 9" tall; 28 pages; Clean and secure in original color wrappers. OCLC 462485550 Measures 21 x 30 cm. Illustrated with 13 b&w plates & 3 colour plates; additional illustrations. Interesting exhibition catalogue from this noted British Pop Artist. Includes a Chronology with biographical and exhibition history. Bibliography of written works by the artist, catalogues, periodicals, books. Listing of Collections holding works by the artist. Exhibition listing of 16 works by the artist. Exhibition held September 5 - 28 1972. Allen Jones RA (1937 - present) is a British pop artist best known for his paintings, sculptures, and lithography. He is a Senior Academician at the Royal Academy of Arts. His works reside in a number of collections; including the Tate, the Museum Ludwig, the Warwick Arts Centre and the Hirshhorn Museum. His best known work Hatstand, Table and Chair, involving fibreglass "fetish" mannequins, debuted to protests in 1970. Intrigued by the "toughness" of American pop art, Jones moved to Manhattan in 1964 and took a studio at the Chelsea Hotel. In New York City, Jones recollects learning to "present what you were saying as clearly as possible," and he developed an interest in making his images tangible. For the year Jones remained in the city, he "discovered a rich fund of imagery in sexually motivated popular illustration of the 1940s and 1950s." According to Jones, about his art of the time: "Fetishism and the transgressive world produced images that I liked because they were dangerous. They were about personal obsessions. They stood outside the accepted canons of artistic expression and they suggested new ways of depicting the figure that weren't dressed up for public consumption." While living in the Chelsea neighbourhood of London in the late 1960s, Jones began working in sculpture, in particular his fibreglass sculpture series of "life-size images of women as furniture with fetishist and sado-masochist overtones." Each of the original three figures was produced in an edition of only six. "Green Table" included in this exhibition is pictured in the catalogue. The severe reaction from the art world, feminists, and the mainstream press after the sculptures' debut would limit Jones' exhibition career in England over the next several decades. When asked about their effect on his career, Jones was quoted stating "it's collateral damage. I wanted to offend the canons of accepted worth in art. I found the perfect image to do that, and it's an accident of history that these works coincided with the arrival of militant feminism." Roman Polanski, Elton John and Gunter Sachs all owned a piece at one stage, with one of the sets selling at auction in 2012 for £2.6 million. The sculptures have also been referenced in Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film A Clockwork Orange.…

Colour-printed softcovers post-binder, nickel & brass screw-posts at gutter margin, cover art of note in gold against black & gilt lettering (minor shelfwear, rubbing, edgewear), still VG copy, w/ former ownership markings at right fore-edge front cover. This 1950 post-War Fuller design featured brilliant multi-coloured lights, the patented "Cobra" pick up system, and unfortunately only offered 48 selections as opposed to the Seeburg Jukebox introduced months before with 100. Original editions are very uncommon, and not to be confused with the often mis-dated and much later 1982 reprint edition, no copies located in Worldcat; See: Kerry Segrave, Jukeboxes: An American Social History; Wurlitzer, Jukebox History (2020).…

Arguably one of the most desirable of the Silver Age jukeboxes, this Wurlitzer model featured a design evoking a 1950's auto windshield, lots of chrome, and sleek styling.
