Binder. Condizione: Fine. Limited Edition. One of 100 copies, octavo size, 54 pp., signed by the author on the title page. A charming story of a destitute family and how they survived during the Great Depression, with recollections by the author of her life growing up and living in many parts of the Southwest, including several towns in New Mexico (Santa Fe, El Prado and Taos), with short stays in Colorado and California. We were able to find only traces of Delia Archuleta online; per the ancestry web site, she was born in about 1926, as her age was reported as 14 in the 1940 census, living at the time in Maxwell, New Mexico. Told in a simple, vernacular style, her reminiscences bring to life a way of living in the Southwest now long gone. Interspersed with the text are recipes which range from Curried Sweet Potato Latkes to Mr. Phillip Naumburg's Favorite Coconut Pie, to Shrimp Creole, to Delia's Green Chili Chicken Breasts. As of this writing, no copies online (although this is stated to be one of 100 copies); our search found a single copy in OCLC (New Mexico State Library). ___DESCRIPTION: In what appears to be home-made wraps, both the front and back with an illustrated mounted onto the wrap, the wraps enclosed in a plastic binder, the text pages all appear to have been photocopied, Delia's signature on the title page, mounted onto the bottom margin of p. 29 is another illustration; the plastic binder is octavo size (9" by 8 3/4"), with 54 total pages, per the colophon at the back this is number 39 of 100 copies. ___CONDITION: Fine overall, the plastic binder clean and without wear, the wraps clean and the illustrations on the wraps also clean, without wear (other than faint creases where they extend slightly beyond the edge of the plastic holder), the corners uncreased, the interior is clean and bright, and free of prior owner markings. ___POSTAGE: International customers, please note the following: (i) additional postage may apply as the standard does not always cover costs, please inquire for details; and (ii) any taxes, duty, or tariffs charged by your country will, of necessity, be your responsibility. ___Swan's Fine Books is pleased to be a member of the ABAA, ILAB, and IOBA and we stand behind every book we sell.
