A history of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment during the first world war, centred around Beaumount Hamel - the settlement in France which the Regiment attempted to recapture from the Germans, making the beginning of the end of the Battle of the Somme - ending with the finding of the grave of Corporal Pittman who was killed in action at Beaumount Hamel.

Tells the stories of two men from Newfoundland who served in the First World War - one with the Royal Highlanders of Canada and the other with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, both earning the Victoria Cross for their efforts.
