Content: In July 1968 Al Cembua visited the Alameda Flea Market and almost immediately his eyes were attracted by two ceramic bottles. He quickly realized they must be Italian Majolica, and with the name of Perugia on the base, just might be Luxardos! He bought them for 1.50 a piece, later verifying that they wee indeed Luxardo amphoras imported in 1953. Look up Dragon Amphora and Mazzo Amphora to see what he found. Now he wouldn't sell them for ten times the amount! Just luck? Well maybe but mostly a knowledge and a recognition of Italian Luxardo decanters. The authors realize that although this book presents the major part of the Luxardo line it is not a complete record of all their decanters exported to the United States. There are several reasons. At times there were small shipments of decanters which were not listed in the plublished brochures. In some cased company records of early decanters are no longer in existence. It is also a difficult task to search for and to identify the early imports when paper labels are missing and identifying marks on the bottles are few. With the help of dedicated collectors of modern figural decanters, the authors have tried to make this book an accurate, authentic and realistic Identification and price guide and as complete a record as possible of these original and artisicall designed Italian decanters, ; Library Edition; Library Edition.
