Ses recherches indépendantes sont une contribution significative pour l'ethnobotanique, la botanique et l'anthropologie. Ses premières études datent de son voyage de noces en 1927 dans les montagnes Catskill avec son épouse Valentina Pavlovna Guercken (1901-1958), pédiatre. Surpris par la différence des attitudes culturelles envers le champignon en Russie et aux États-Unis, le couple commencent ses recherches et publient Mushrooms, Russia and History en 1957. Pendant ces recherches, ils effectuent des expéditions au Mexique afin d'étudier l'utilisation religieuse des champignons. Ils deviennent ainsi en 1955 les premiers Occidentaux à avoir participé au rituel mazatèque du champignon sacré. Grâce à leur collaboration avec Roger Heim, les échantillons collectés par les Wasson sont cultivés et soumis à une étude scientifique ce qui permet à Albert Hofmann d'identifier la structure chimique de la psilocybine et de la psilocine. Deux espèces de psilocybes sont nommées en leur honneur Psilocybe wassonii Heim et Psilocybe wassonorum Guzman. Wasson et Hofmann sont aussi les premiers Occidentaux à collecter des spécimens de Salvia divinorum et à en introduire la culture au-delà de Mexico. En 1967, il publie Soma: Divine Mushroom of Immortality qui traite du lien possible entre l'amanite tue-mouches (Amanita muscaria) et la boisson rituelle des Aryens, célébrée dans le Rig-Veda. Morgan & Co. In the course of CIA-funded research, Wasson made contributions to the fields of ethnobotany, botany, and anthropology. Wasson began his banking career at Guaranty Trust Company in 1928, and moved to J.P. Morgan & Co. in 1934, where he became a vice president for public relations in 1943.[6] That same year, he published a book on the Hall Carbine Affair, in which he attempted to exonerate John Pierpont Morgan from guilt with respect to the incident, which had been viewed as an example of wartime profiteering. As early as 1937, Wasson had been attempting to influence historians Allan Nevins and Charles McLean Andrews regarding Morgan's role in the affair; he used Nevins' reportas a reference for his own book on the topic. The matter of Morgan's responsibility for the Hall Carbine Incident remains controversial. Together, Wasson and botanist Roger Heim collected and identified various species of family Strophariaceae and genus Psilocybe, while Albert Hofmann, using material grown by Heim from specimens collected by the Wassons, identified the chemical structure of the active compounds, psilocybin and psilocin. Hofmann and Wasson were also among the first Westerners to collect specimens of the Mazatec hallucinogen Salvia divinorum, though these specimens were later deemed not suitable for rigorous scientific study or taxonomic classification.[18] Two species of mushroom, Psilocybe wassonii R.Heim and Psilocybe wassoniorum Guzman & S.H.Pollock, were named in honor of Wasson by Heim and Gastón Guzmán, the latter of whom Wasson met during an expedition to Huautla de Jiménez in 1957. Wasson's next major contribution was a study of the ancient Vedic intoxicant soma.

Scherm et 8 par Jan van Vianen. Attribué parfois à Antoine de La Sale (ca 1386-1462), cet ouvrage a été composé vers 1465 dans le cercle raffiné de Philippe le Bon, duc de Bourgogne. Les cent contes y sont fictivement rapportés par trente-six narrateurs issus de la cour bourguignonne, chargés de divertir le dauphin Louis (le futur Louis XI) alors en exil auprès du duc (14561461), en rupture avec son père le roi Charles VII. Premier recueil de contes en prose de la littérature française, cet ouvrage inaugure une longue tradition de narration brève. Il puise son inspiration dans le 'Décaméron' de Boccace, mais s'en distingue par une verve plus libre et un imaginaire nourri des fabliaux médiévaux, peuplés de moines paillards, de clercs retors, de bourgeoises effrontées et de situations cocasses. French literature's first collection of short stories. The most beautiful copy of this extremely rare edition of 1532 of the "Cent nouvelles nouvelles" mentioned and described by Brunet. The work was composed between 1464 and 1467 at the court of Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy. He is the dedicatee and is himself among the thirty-five storytellers. Long attributed to Antoine de La Sale, author of the fiftieth story, it is now admitted that the Cent Nouvelles Nouvelles were written by a single anonymous writer, who would be the thirty-sixth storyteller among the Burgundian lords. "Masterpiece of style and, without a doubt, the first work in prose where the French language shows this clarity and easy elegance that made it the language of civilized Europe" (Viollet-le- Duc, Bibliographie des chansons, fabliaux, contes en vers et en prose, 1859, p. 144). "A beautiful copy in g. mor. was sold 465 fr. at pr. d'Essling; 14 liv. sterl. Utterson." (Brunet, I, 1735). The scabrous effects are enhanced: simpleton husbands perpetually cuckolds, beaten wives, erotic truculence, feints and word games are rendered with a very lively art of dialogue and staging. Very beautiful copy mentioned by Brunet and Bechtel bound in morocco by Trautz with the cypher of Baron de Ruble coming from the libraries of François-Victor Masséna, Prince d'Essling (cat. 1845, n°349: copy then bound by Duru); baron Alphonse de Ruble who had it rebound by Trautz-Bauzonnet (Paris, 1889, n°463); Emile Rossignol with ex-libris; Bernard Clavreuil; Pierre Bergé. Bechtel mentions only one copy on the market in the last forty years: the Edouard Vernon Utterson copy, bound in the 19th century by Niedrée with 3 repaired leaves and the last leaf redone, sold 7 500 ? in June 1985, 39 years ago.
