In addition to "A Summary Historical and Statistical View of Maine," the directory contains more than 80 pages of advertisments, many illustrated and full page. The ad inside the front cover is for H. H. Hay, Druggist, while that on the inside of the back cover is for "Rich Rolling Prairie Lands," sponsored by the Illinois Central Railroad Company ("$12 per acre!!").
